Carl Vester “Cowboy” Ponder, 61, of Chidester, died Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at the Ouachita County Medical Center. He attended Camden Bible Baptist. He was a logger. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl Victor and Alice Earnestine Childers Ponder and sister, Annette Hodges. He is survived by his wife, Zelda Ponder of Chidester; sons, Devon Ponder of Chidester and Lynn McElfresh of Camden; five daughters, Carla Ann Strachan and Betty Jo Head both of Texarkana, TX, Tina Marie Langston of Pineville, LA, Stephanie Ann Clayton of Fordyce, and Anita Jane McElfresh of Camden; brother, Ricky Ponder of El Dorado; sisters, Kathrine Jo Waters of North Little Rock, Sandy Barnhart of Chidester, and Sue Humphries of Camden; and fifteen grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Camden Bible Baptist Church with burial in Lakeside Cemetery. Rev. Al Green and Rev. Bill Ponder will officiate the service.
