Carl Pridgen Obituary
He was born September 22, 1948 in El Dorado to Minor Colvin Pridgen and Nellie Louise Tarter Pridgen. Carl was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was in the 101st Airborne Infantry as a door gunner and was a crew chief from 1969- 1975. He worked at Riverwood for 20 years and Clean Harbor for 24 years. He was a charter member of Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and served as a deacon for 31 years and he was also a leader of the men's fellowship and was a volunteer for the Red Cross. He loved to hunt, fish, and riding on the party barge and playing at the lake and most of all he loved to follow his grandchildren's ballgames, pageants, and cheering competitions. Carl was the neighborhood handy man and recently he was his daughter's caregiver and was by his daughter's side and cared for her daily during her recovery.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his brother, Gene Pridgen and his father-in-law, Rastus Fore.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Fore Pridgen of Strong; his son, Keith Pridgen of Strong; his daughter, Amy Thomason (Chris) of El Dorado; his mother-in-law, Amay Fore of Strong; his brother, James C. Pridgen Sr. of Farmerville, LA; his grandchildren Kaili Pridgen, Russell Pridgen and their mother Ginger. Along with a sister-in-law, Virginia (Frankie) Risinger and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Malone officiating. Burial will follow at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday at the Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2220 Pigeon Hill Rd., Strong, AR.

You knew the minute you met Carl he was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back if that was all he had to give. Quick with a smile and a joke. And if you were there to check on him and make sure he was ok, his first concern was how you were doing. I am so blessed to have met Carl and his family, even if I only got to know them as friends for a short time. To Amy, Linda and the whole family, we are praying for you and we love you.

Mr. Carl was such a sweet, loving, funny, and Godly man. I am truly sorry for your loss! Many of my childhood memories have you all in them. I can remember Mr. Carl with his big eyes and that huge smile on his face, and every time you saw him that is what you saw. He loved his family, and his brothers and sisters in Christ dearly, he would do anything for you! He will be missed here on this earth by many. I pray that God gives each of you comfort and understanding during you time of sorrow and the days to come. I love each of you!

Such a dear sweet man and soul. I can't tell you how many hours I spent talking with him while his daughter and my mother were both in ticu in Memphis but what truly struck me about this man was even after his daughter made the recovery my mother could not he continued to come by icu and check on our family and even continued to check on my dad after my mother passed away. Such an amazing gesture of kindness that let me know he was an amazing man. Your family is in my prayers for I know myself how hard it is to lose a soul as wonderful as his.
