Not sure what to say?

Carl loved his home. The country gentleman was at peace in nature. He loved the horses we kept there. He loved walking, breathing and feeling the countryside. I’ll never forget his kindness and enthusiasm for the important things in life.

Lila, My parents and I just found out about your father's death. I have thought about you over the years and wondered how you are doing? I left Albany about 15 years ago and live in Virginia. Please tell your family that Henry, Mathilde and Maribeth Bersani send our prayers and thoughts. Your father was a wonderful man.

My father Philip Willkie thought of Carl as his best friend. They met at Princeton. He was my god father. Though I did not seem him often, I cherished our times together & his hysterical sense of humor. At my father's funeral in 1974, we were somber until Carl arrived. In the most difficult situations, he could add light & compassion. Carl my have been the last person who knew my grandfather Wendell Willkie as a young adult. On a tour with him at the hideous modern Capitol complex in Albany,...

My deepest sympathies on the passing of a lovely man. He was supportive of my nursing work in Africa and I loved and appreciated him for his generous spirit.

A couple of months ago my husband and I decided to have a picnic although the weather was not cooperating. We ventured out to the Dutch barn and set up our picnic indoors. Mr. Touhey drove out right up to the barn doors to see what kind of nuts would picnic on a day like that. He was extemely friendly and welcoming, discussing the geese on the property and how glad he was that we were enjoying ourselves. He will surely be missed.

Nancy and family, my condolences to you all. I just found out of the passing of Carl, and I am so sorry for your loss. Taking care of him in SICU at Albany Medical Center and meeting all of you was an experience that I will never forget. Even though he was ill, you could see the love he had for all of you and you all for him. You all are an exceptional family and I feel honored not only have taken care of Carl but to meet all of you. Thank you for being a part of my life. God has given us a...

To the entire Touhey family, I extend my condolences to you for the loss of this extremely classy and warm human being. I had the pleasure to meet Carl through his most loyal employee and friend: Carl Keegan of Orange Motors. May Mr. Touhey rest in eternal peace. He's earned the rest.

Charles, Alice and Entire Touhey Family,
Sincerest of condolences on the loss of your father. Mr. Touhey was my 6th grade teacher at St. Anthony's School and very very kind to myself, my brother (for many years to come....) and I now know the legacy from which he surely must have learned such kindness and generosity. Alice, you know me from those dark place writings seeking legal assistance for the incarcerated. God Bless you both.

Sending sympathy to the Toughey family. I used to work with Carl. He was a great guy. He will be missed.
