Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory - Ballwin Obituary

Carole Lynn Threewitt (nee Montgomery) passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, at Manor Grove, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was 77 years old — though she happily claimed to be 29 for the N’th time whenever anyone asked.

Born on March 24, 1948 in Salem, MO, Carole was the daughter of Lila Taylor (nee Leonard). She met and married Robert “Bob” Threewitt in St. Louis Missouri and raised her two sons while working in the library at their grade school and later worked at St Anthony’s Hospital. In 1990, Carole and Bob moved to Denver with their son Don. She loved hosting family and friends when anyone wanted to visit the Rockies. She earned her Masters in Accounting while living and working in Denver.

Carole moved back to St. Louis in 2012 after Bob’s passing. She was able to spend time with lifelong friends playing games, going to the Muny and Fox and hanging out drinking wine. In the last few years, she moved to Gambrill Gardens and made many new friends and enjoyed spending time with them, merging old friends and new.

Family and friends will remember Carole for her kindness, strength, and love of card games. Whether through her love for others or the amount of times she would beat anyone and everyone at Canasta, she freely shared her heart with others. Carole always made time to listen, support, and celebrate with those she loved. Her family and friends will forever remember her warmth and love.

Remaining to cherish Carole’s memory are her sister, Debbie Coffman (Marty); her sons, Douglas Threewitt and Donald Threewitt (Amy); her grandchildren, Miranda Threewitt (Josh Patterson), Brendan Threewitt (Erica), Mara Noelke (Tristan), Maggie Threewitt, Rose Threewitt, and Colin Threewitt; and her great-grandson, Belmont Simmons.

Preceding Carole in death are Bob Threewitt, Richard Montgomery (brother), and Lila Taylor.

A visitation will be held on November 2, 2025 from 4pm - 7pm at Schrader funeral home (14960 Manchester Rd) and a funeral will be held on November 3, 2025 at 10am at Schrader funeral home, with an interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery (6901 MacKenzie Rd). Family and friends are invited to attend in celebration of Carole’s life. A luncheon is planned for after the burial at Helen Fitzgerald’s.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Humane Colorado or Meals on Wheels.

Not sure what to say?

I have so many fond and warm memories with Carole. She hosted me and Cindi in 2008 during our semester abroad with Up With People, and it is a time I will cherish forever. It was my first time in Denver, and away from my family. She made Cindi and I feel right at home in her beautiful home, with lovely dinners on the deck, and ice cream snacks after a long day away. Although, she wasn’t able to hike with us due to physical limitations, that didn’t stop her from taking us up to the mountains...

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. Carol was a trooper. Her disability never seemed to slow her down. This last year has been hard on her. I will miss her. We had many fun times with the Grammys. Carol was an excellent game player.

I'll never forget Aunt Carole's wonderful laugh and kindness. She will be so dearly missed. From the time she moved her food around in her tummy to make more room to her "I love you more". I was so lucky to spend my summers as a child with my wonderful Aunt and would not have changed a thing. I love you more Aunt Carole ❤

We had a lot in common when it came to cloths and furniture, like showing up at wedding are parties In the same stile cloths having not talked about what we were wareing.I loved you and you'll be missed by everyone.

Carole had gigantic challenges the last few years of her life and in the midst of her agony fit in some fun with the card gang. I admired your determination and will miss you very much.

Carole was such a gem- I am truly grateful for the few years I was able to spend with her and I am so glad she became a part of my life. She was such a determined, intelligent and motivated person and I always found her to be such an inspiration. She will be dearly missed. To Carole's children, sibling, grandchildren and all family- you are in my thoughts and prayers that you may find peace and comfort.

My dear sweet friend for almost 50 years. Our friendship started as Cub Scout Den Mothers for our boys who have also remained friends to this day. Carole has strength and determination like no one I have ever met. I was blessed to have her in my life and will cherish all the wonderful memories.
