Caroline Hopps Obituary

MANCHESTER - Caroline C. Hopps, 61, died Aug. 3, 2011, at Kindred Hospital in Peabody, Mass., after a lengthy illness.

She was born on Aug. 19, 1949, the daughter of the late Clarence and Catherine (Negri) Greenwood.

She lived most of her life in Manchester.

Prior to being diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, she was employed for several years as a crossing guard at the Beech Street School.

She also enjoyed volunteering at the school and wrote a poem that hangs in the school's lobby. She found tremendous enjoyment in all the children of the Beech Street School.

A friend to all, she touched each and every person's life with whom she came into contact. She loved her family and lived for them.

At the time her children attended Beech Street School, she made Christmas stockings filled with candy for all their classmates. She was the backbone of the family, and they will love her always.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Carrol Hopps of Manchester; a son, Jesse E. Hopps; two daughters, Keri-Ann Hopps and Kimberly Hopps; two grandchildren, Jesse E. Hopps Jr. and Kennedy Rose Hopps, all of Manchester; a sister, Linda MacDonald of Pittsfield; her sister-in-law and caregiver, Charlotte Richard.

.

SERVICES: Following cremation, a memorial gathering is Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. in McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., corner of Beech Street. A memorial ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. in the funeral home. For more information, go to mchughfuneralhome.com.
