Charles William Belmar

Charles William Belmar, 85 passed from this life January 11, 2018. He was born July 26, 1932 in Des Arc, Missouri to parents, Albert Lewis Belmar and Lottie Belle Stevens (née). Charles is survived by his wife of 61 years, Georgia Jeanette Woods (née); daughter, Sandra S. Forrester, son-in-law, Mike of Taft, TN; daughter, Patty L. Belmar of Anderson, SC; granddaughters, Clara McComb Curry, Emily, Abigail, and Madeline McComb; and brother, Ray of St. Louis. He was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur, Edward, Arla, James, Buford, and sister, Pearl.




Mr. Belmar lived most of his life in Missouri, primarily in Rolla and St. Louis. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Munitions Officer. His life work included working on the railroad as a youngster; Pipe-fitter on large pressure vessels; owner of his own General Contracting and Roofing business; owner of a hardware store in Salem, MO; and finally retiring with Civil Service at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO in 1985. Charles enjoyed living out his retirement years as a gentleman cattle farmer, gardener, and wood working hobbyist. Until his move with wife Georgia to Huntsville, AL in 2014 to be near family, he was an active member of the St. James Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Rolla, MO. Entombment will be at Valhalla Memorial Gardens, Huntsville, AL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Floyd E. "Tutt" Fann State Veterans Home in Huntsville, AL.
