Charles was born and raised in Danbury CT. He attended Mt. Herman High School in Mt Herman MA and graduated from West Chester University PA, in 1949 with a teaching degree.
He met and fell in love with Sunday Mancini while she was working at his father's beauty salon in Danbury Ct. Following their August 1950 wedding they drove across the country to Merced CA. where Charles would begin his life long career in education. His first job was teaching 6th grade at Weaver school in Merced. He went on to receive his Masters at Fresno State in 1960.  He then became principle at McSwain School. After several years he went on to become Superintendent of the McSwain School District. After 15 years he moved on to an administrative role with the Merced County School District. He retired in 1989.
He and Sunday had 2 children whom they raised in Merced.
Following the passing of Sunday in 1977 he married Marilyn Jones, whom he shared 18 years of companionship and travel.
Charles enjoyed many years as the announcer of the Central California Band Review that takes place in downtown Merced each Fall.
Charles was athletic and played football in High School and in College. After arriving in Merced Golf became his first love, playing many rounds with his friends and family.
Charles was active in the community. He was a past president of Rotary, the Calif Teachers Association and the Merced Golf and Country Club. Along with memberships in Mason's, Italian American Club and Elks Club. He served on the supervisory committee of the Merced School Employees Federal Credit Union for 50 years. In recent years his participation with the Central Presbyterian Church helped to enrich his life.
Through all his accomplishments his family was his # 1 priorty.  He showed by example how hard work, staying involved and helping in the community, can build lifelong friendships. He was a caring and valued member of the Merced Community for over 66 years.
He is survived by his children, Lynn Campbell and David Roveto. His grandchildren Jeremy Campbell, Nicole and Natalie Roveto. And 2 Great Grand Children.
