A Celebration of Cheryl McCain, a Life Well-Lived

While words cannot fully encompass the measure of a person, they offer us a gentle means of honoring a legacy, expressing gratitude for memories made, and preserving the enduring spirit that remains. We remember a soul whose journey, though now at rest, continues to inspire and uplift all those fortunate enough to have been a part of Cheryl’s story.

Cheryl’s story begins in Detroit, Michigan in 1956. Daughter of Eleanor and Raymond Vitali and sister, Linda Meuller and brother, Robert Vitali. Cheryl is survived by her husband Philip McCain, and daughters Jenn, Katie, and Missy. Cheryl was also a proud Grandma of Ethan, Gavin, Tanner, Isaac, Jake, Joseph, and Evan. She was a retired registered nurse who worked anywhere from the emergency room, hospital floor, homecare, but her passion was teaching her wonderful nursing students. She taught at Concorde, Emily Griffith, and retired from Jefferson County Schools. Once she retired, she wasn’t done guiding others. She dedicated her time to the employees and families of GoldStar Learning Options sharing her knowledge, skills, and motherly advice as their nurse and mentor.

Outside of the work she loved, Cheryl loved her family and spending time cooking, reading, working with bead art and anything to do with hummingbirds. She loved Hawaii and most of all, the many years she spent in Estes Park in her mountain house.

Cheryl passed suddenly from a pulmonary embolism on July 8th, 2025.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Goldstar Learning www.gsloinc.com to support Missy's ongoing day programs and Goldstar's incredible work supporting our less fortunate population.
