Not sure what to say?

Dear Max,
I'm so sorry about your dad's passing--I have many fond memories of your parents; growing up across the "backyard fence" from them as I did, they were always kind and supportive to me. I especially appreciate and value the friendship that they shared with my parents. Both my mother and my father admired and loved your father (along with your mother) for his intelligence, his loyalty, and his ready humor. I know my dad will feel this loss greatly. Please accept for yourself,...

Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.
