Chick was a superb modeler and good friend. I think he holds the record for "quickest" achievement of Master Model Railroader. He did it in one day when the MER held a convention in Harrisburg and his modeling efforts were "discovered." Judges congregated and the result was the required seven achievement awards. The award was well deserved, as his work was superb.

I visited Chick's model railroad many times as a member of the Keystone Model Railroad Club when I was younger. His trolley models were all made by hand - mostly from scrap metals such as oil cans and other sheetmetal - and I was just amazed that someone could do something like that. I still remember the “haunted” house on the hill and always appreciated that he was willing to talk to a “youngster” about his work. I still have all of his books on the area's traction lines.
