I first met Clarke when we worked together at Becton Dickinson Electronics Laboratory in 1979. We quickly became friends and cycling buddies, spending many hours riding the hills of the San Francisco Peninsula. We were later principals in FOxS Labs, proving the feasibilty of a fiber optics blood gas sensor. We stayed in touch over the years.
