Dear Smoot family, I am sadden to hear of Claude. He was such a good man. My son Jason loved him and spoke so highly of him. He loved to sit and talk to him after he mowed and always enjoyed getting to eat with Ruth and Claude. He was so wonderful to my son, much like his Grandfather. I know now they are once again enjoying those long talks, getting it all prepared for us all. Thank you for the teaching you gave him. Mark and Wanda Gooch

He was a thoughtful and caring Uncle. My Mother cherished him as a brother. I know she is now happy again as she is now with her husband and brother who both were so dear to her. Your family has lost a wonderful person and he will be missed by many.

A very sad niece, Sharon

Condolences to his family.......was like a brother to me for many many years. Girls, (Sheryl, Linda, Dana and Janice) know that our thoughts are with you. Distance prevents us from attending his funeral as we are in southern TX for the winter.
