Clifford Daniel Eagle Chasing, Jr., known by many as Donnie, was born September 17, 1941 in Cherry Creek, South Dakota to Clifford Daniel Eagle Chasing, Sr. and Eva In Amongst. On that day, Cherry Creek and the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, was blessed to have a person created like Donnie. Donnie had a special companion for 34 years, Veronica Iron Lightning. He was a son, a father, a brother, a grandpa, a cousin, an uncle and a friend. He also was a giver, a listener, a comedian, a teacher, a bullrider, a horse breaker and a helping hand. He cared a lot about everyone, not just certain people. He especially cared about the children, and wanted the best for all of us. Don graduated from Cheyenne Eagle Butte High School. He later worked as a welder, and was highly sought after for special jobs. He traveled to many places for his work. He liked to be outdoors, attending rodeos and pow-wows. He was a brave bull rider and liked to be around horses. He also liked to go to the land and just sit and overlook the old homestead. It was a way for him to find peace of mind. He believed strongly in the Native Ways, yet he was a cowboy. He loved all his relatives, whether they were by blood or not. Every Sunday morning he went to pick-up Pete Two Hawks so they could open the doors to St. John's Episcopal Church. Don liked to donate to the church. Whenever he could he would donate coffee, food, time and coins that he would save during the week. Donnie had 4 children, James D. Eagle Chasing (Lourdes Parker) of Huron, SD, Mike E. Eagle Chasing (Kristina Peck), of Sioux City, IA, Allenne Stanley (Mike Snyder) of Aurora, Colorado and Hannah Condon of Eagle Butte, SD; his grandchildren, Austin Jeffries, Amanda LeBeau, Joshua and Daniel Thunderhawk, Thane Jeffries, Nikki Barbosa, Tiffany Barbosa, Austin, Stanley, Brittany Stanley, Tyler Eagle Chasing, Hailey Eagle Chasing, Lexus Eagle Chasing, Mia Eagle Chasing, Makaiya Eagle Chasing, Ariana Eagle Chasing and Lilliana Eagle Chasing. He is also survived by Leta Eagle Chasing, Stella Eagle Horse-Buffalo, Colleen Lone Eagle-Clown, Ernestine White Feather-Frazier, Cecelia Cook Circle Eagle, Zigmund Hollow Horn, Lavina Eagle Chasing, Paulina Alva Eagle Chasing, Carmelita Eagle Chasing, Delvina Morrison and other family too numerous to list. Donnie was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Eagle Chasing, Sr. and his mother, Eva In Amongst; brothers, Isadore & Vern Eagle Chasing and his sisters, Margaret & Maxine Eagle Chasing. Donnie's life here on Mother Earth will never be replaced or replicated. His effect on our lives will last forever. But as he lived, we should too, by respecting each other and helping each other out as he did.
