Not sure what to say?

Nan and Peter were heroes. As a member of the SHS 2012-2015 Community Council, I had the pleasure of working with Nan. Through Nan we learned about Peter and their values, passions, education and family. She wowed the students with her stories, thoughts and life experiences. Our heartfelt condolences to you Nan and the loss of your beloved "sweetheart."

Colonel Stearns was one of the finest people I ever met. I had the honor of working for him when I was posted at ISAE in Germany. I only wish I had the opportunity to speak with him before his passing. A real gentleman.

Joyce and I were next door neighbors of Pete and Nan in Taipei and served together in The Army Section of the Advisory Group. Wonderful giving friends. Pete was a dedicated and great soldier. Revered by his Chinese counterparts he was a fine example to us all

Nan. I and Michael send our love and prayers. I love the spirit of you Peter. And we know you will continue to keep on being the guy who fights for the good. Travel softly.

my daughter Peggy was friends with Heidi in wildflecken, Germany...Colonel and Mrs Sterns were a wonderful couple!

I had the pleasure of working with Pete on the Souhegan Finance Committee and got to know him as a thoughtful and pragmatic person whos heart was in the best place for the community and the high school. Vanessa always enjoyed seeing a friendly, helpful and supportive Pete at WMD events. We both will always remember Pete especially as being a devoted husband, friend and supporter of his love, Nan. Our sincerest condolences.
Love,
Dan and Vanessa

Gail and I met Pete and Nan when we moved to The Fells in June 2015. They were two of the regulars at our get together's at the clubhouse. I quickly learned that we had a mutual friend in Concord, NH through one of my Army friends. Through Nan and Pete we all reunited this past year and it was a wonderful evening. Pete always liked to walk Bella and we'd have nice discussions when I bumped into him while I was taking a walk. Then, near the end, when Pete could no longer walk Bella it was...

The Stearns have been very special people to us ever since Colonel Stearns commanded the 54th Engineer Battalion in Germany. We have treasured their friendship over all these years, and eagerly awaited their
lovely Christmas cards and letters every year. Our "reunion" with them last summer will be a wonderful and lasting memory. Nan, we know how much you will miss your fellow traveler in life. We will miss him, too.

When I think about my life and all the special people I was fortunate to cross paths with , Colonel Pete and Nan Stearns are squarely at the top of that list...From being fortunate enough to serve under them in the 54 th Engineer Battalion in Germany, to having had some fun visits over the years... Enroute to their new assignment in Hawaii, Pete and Nan and Heidi were driving cross country. We we living in Ft Leavenworth, KS at the time. We decided we needed to say Bon Voyage to the Stearns...
