5 years. It's crazy. I was on the other side of the offensive line at Iowa Central. Quiet, driven. Craig Light.

Craig Alan Light
Urbandale - Craig Light, 58, aka "Mr. Urbandale," died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on December 11, 2017, following a brief illness.
Craig was born in Des Moines, Ia., on December 22, 1958, to Monica and Wayne Brafford. A football standout at Urbandale High School, he went on to play at Iowa Central College. Craig earned his Bachelor's degree in Business from Iowa State and his MBA from Drake. He volunteered tirelessly, and was recently the Director of Sales at Homewood Suites in Ankeny.
Craig Light loved EVERYBODY, and everybody loved him right back. But Carol Boals Light loved him best. Craig is also survived by his mother, Monica; a son, Nick and daughter-in-law Megan; brothers Rob and Todd; and step-daughter, Annie (Brian) Bauman. He was preceded in death by his father Wayne Brafford, and step-father Bruce Light.
As glowing Facebook praises are pouring in for Craig, a good friend once said, "The body was big, but not big enough to hold the heart."
A Memorial service will be held for Craig at Merle Hay Funeral Home at 3:00pm on Friday, December 15, 2017. Carol and Craig's family will meet friends and colleagues at the funeral home at 1:00pm. Internment of Craig's cremains will take place at McDivitt Grove Cemetery following the service.
Memorial contributions and gifts may be made in Craig's name to Carol Boals Light.

Craig was always so happy and quick to make us laugh. He was in our wedding and god-parent to our oldest son. Tom and him were always together during their high school years either playing football or just hanging out. He will be greatly missed!
Rest in peace!

Craig was very gracious to me when I visited Rich Landsberg's hometown. He took my son-in-law, Ryan and myself all around to town showing me places where Rich had been and lived. Craig introduced me to Rich's friends. He opened up his heart to me only meeting me in person for the first time. I will never forget how kind he was to me and how highly he spoke about Rich.
Carol and family I am truly sorry. Please know you all are in my thoughts and prayers.
