Linda and I fondly remember Dale and his wife Mary when we were members together at Messiah Lutheran Church in Highland. Dale could always be counted on for a gracious smile, a warm personality and a special way of caring for young people, particularly those whom he worked with as a high school ROTC instructor.

Col. Burns was a great man to have as a mentor. His calm and inspiring demeanor, wise advice and kindness have been helpful through my entire adult life. I have carried on his bits of sage and sterling advice with many of those I've been blessed to help.
It was a true pleasure to have been taught by Col. Burns. I truly know that he had a great influence on many during his careers.

He was a fine officer and instructor. I was one of his students in the AFJROTC at SBHS and he helped pave the way for my military stint in the Army. I will always remember him and the many things I learned from him. Slow hand salute my brother!
