Byles Memorial Home - New London Obituary

Dale Marie Gauthier, 69 of North Stonington formerly of Groton died early Thursday morning October 21, 2021 at Backus Hospital in Norwich. Dale was born April 25, 1952 in New London to Eugene Maynard and Demaris Winslow Maynard.  She married Kenneth Gauthier, he survives her.  Dale graduated from Robert E. Fitch High School and worked at Electric Boat as a draftsman.

Dale loved music from an early age, played piano and guitar. A beautiful voice, Dale loved to sing, at weddings, at church & choir, with family, especially with her granddaughters. She was an avid cook & baker, wedding cakes were a specialty. She loved God and reading her bible, gardening surrounded by hummingbirds and butterflies.

Dale owned her own store.  She pretty much ran a farm at the house. She overcame a lot of adversity in her life.   Dale set goals for herself. When she wanted a horse....she got a horse.  She wanted to run a store.... she ran a store.  Anything she put her mind to...she accomplished it.

Besides her husband Ken, she is survived by her children. She maintained her sanity while raising them. Sons: Kenneth Gauthier Jr. , Ryan Van Lew, Shaun Van Lew, Patrick Gauthier, Sam Gauthier and Alex Gauthier; Daughters: Yvette Tipper,  Kelly Carter,  Heather McCullough, Erin Van Lew Estrella, Jessica Rosekrans and Kendall Reightler; Brother: Thomas Maynard; Sisters: Diane Dull, Sandra Avena and Peggy Maynard; Many Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by brother Kevin Maynard.

The family will greet friends from 4:00pm to 6:00pm Wednesday October 27, 2021 at the Byles Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames Street in Groton.  Services will be private.

Dale was the most sweetest lady going to miss your sweet smile and sweetest heart . God took another Angel . My thoughts and prayers go out to your beautiful family

Dear Kenny, I was shocked and saddened to read about Dale’s passing. She was such a warm and giving person. I can’t imagine how hard this must be for you and your entire family. I know your strong faith will help you through this difficult time, but my thoughts and prayers are with you anyway, my friend.

Cousin Erin- I love you honey. Your Mom is a beautiful soul, a one-of-a-kind Mom, and she loved her family with everything she had. Keep your head up and heart filled with good memories. Remember that she is watching always, and you can pass down all the goodness to your girls so she in fact lives on!
