Not sure what to say?

Dear Jane and Family,
I want you to know that I considered Dan as a great friend. He took me under his wing in his flooring business just when I needed help, with a wife and new baby girl, as I was just starting college in Jan. 1955. I am grateful to him for that and for the good example he set for me in my early years of marriage.
With sympathy and great love.
