Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home - Schulenburg Obituary

After a very happy and fun-filled life, Dan Pipilas, age 65, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at his home in Schulenburg, Texas.

Dan was born in Nashua, New Hampshire on January 3, 1959. After his father's death, his family moved to Jupiter, Florida in 1969.

Dan attended Jupiter High School, where he excelled in sports and surfing. He also enjoyed his art classes, especially pottery. After graduating in 1977, he started working for JC Moag Mirror and Glass Company. His career took him all over the United States and several places in Canada. It was on one of the jobs in Houston where he met the love of his life, Jan, and they married in 1992.

In 1995, Dan started his own business, DP Construction. He was a very talented craftsman and with his mathematical mind and close attention to detail, Dan could solve any restoration problem. Many of his satisfied customers remain close friends to this day.

Dan also loved antiques and enjoyed antiquing. He and Jan opened a beautiful and unique antique shop in Schulenburg, "The Country Manor House", in 2014. Dan and Jan worked hand-in-hand to create a business loved by many customers.

Dan was a very active and loved member of Shidoobee, a worldwide online community of Rolling Stones fans that tour the world together for concerts and gatherings. He made many friends that became family, and they will miss him dearly. He would want them to know that they were all very special to him.

Dan had a heart of gold. He was very generous to friends and strangers. He will be remembered by all the lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Eleanor Pipilas; and brother, Tim Pipilas. Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Jan Pipilas.

Not sure what to say?

R. I. P. Dan, gone too soon.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

Herb and I were very sad to learn about Dan’s passing. We had become friends many years ago and Dan did a magnificent job restoring our house in the early 90’s. He was a talented and creative contractor and an artist.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jan also a very creative and talented lady.
Danielle & Herb

Jan, David and I were saddened by this news. Dan was an amazing craftsman. Please know we will pray for you.
