Darby was an inspiring man w/ a joie de vivre like no other. He had an uncanny ability to put a smile on the face of a chess player even after they went through the most brutal loss. Darby had a self deprecating humor and had an unselfish way about him such that he always put the group before himself. Darby made me want to be a better person. He was a great man.

Dear Darby:
Today I thought of you and shed a tear. You were an incredible brother to me and I always admired your love and willingness to share yourself to so many others. I have so very many memories and I can hardly wait to see you again. My sympathy to Darby's family and friends especially his children Shannon and Jeremy.
God be with you

He was indeed some kind of something special and I have no doubt the Lord has procured a very special place in Heaven for him. If I know Darby and his silly jokes he is probably looking down on all of us with his reassuring smile and telling us not to worry about him. "BE HAPPY" I have nothing but fond memories of him and...
