Dave Simmons

R. David Simmons, 66, of Roswell, Georgia passed away on October 10, 2016 at home with his family at his bedside.
He was born October 18, 1949 to Samuel T. and Carolyn Simmons, and grew up in Palatka, FL. He attended local schools, graduating from The University of Florida with a degree in finance and was a member of Phi Kappa Tau.
Following graduation, he began his career in banking with Atlantic National Bank in Jacksonville, FL. In 1977, he joined the Atlanta office of Towers Perrin Forster and Crosby, an international management consulting firm, in its executive compensation practice. In addition to Towers Perrin, he worked with The Hay Group and Watson Wyatt in their Atlanta- based executive compensation practices. He also served Towers Perrin and Watson Wyatt in management roles. In retirement, he continued to serve selected clients through his own consultancy.
With his expertise in banking and human resources, he was in demand as a speaker at major associations throughout the United States and Canada.
Dave enjoyed history and travel, and had strong recollection of information gleaned from those interests. Of particular, he enjoyed travel to Western Europe and Civil War sites in the United States. He combined his experiences and memory with engaging conversation and wit. Friends, neighbors and colleagues enjoyed many events and evenings with Dave and family; he and Lynn always being gracious hosts.
He is preceded in death by his father, Samuel T. Simmons; mother, Carolyn Simmons; and brother, Michael Kent Simmons.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn McDonald Simmons of Atlanta, GA and daughter, Katherine Anne Simmons of Atlanta, GA. Friends will appreciate that he died during a winning University of Florida football season as he was a faithful fan of the Gators.
The service will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Roswell Funeral Home, with the visitation 1 hour prior. The inurnment will immediately follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
