I am so sorry that I did not see this until tonight. I just want to say that David had a fierce need to protect the rights of individuals who were not treated with full respect. He helped me understand people in my own life and why they thought or acted as they did. I will forever remember him and this wife for all they contributed to Stairways. Thank you for sharing him with all of us!

What an honor and blessing it was to know David as colleague at Pax Christi USAwhere he worked countless hours perfecting our data base, as a co-conspirator for peace and justice at myriad demonstrations, vigils, and marches, as an oblate in community and as a friend. His passion for peace and justice was based in a profound love of life, soaring dreams of what could be, and empathy for the pain and suffering of others. We had conversations about so many different topics.

I didn't know him as well as my brother Kirk, but I'll always remember a delightful afternoon we spent with David and Cecile, about 10 years ago, on the deck of their Lakeside Drive home. I had moved to California and hadn't seen them for many years, yet he was still so excited and enthused to hear about what I was up to. "Zest for life" - no question about it!
