Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel Obituary

David Alfred Carroll, 59, of Pensacola, FL, passed away of cardiac arrest on Saturday, March 16, 2024.

David was born on October 2, 1964, in Pensacola, FL, to John A. and Latiné Dupree Carroll. He graduated from Tate High School in 1983 and Florida State University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. He then attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock for law school and graduated in 1992.

After moving to Pensacola, David began his law practice and specialized in family law. Throughout his 28-year career, David helped countless families and individuals through difficult circumstances.

David met and married the love of his life, Chitra, in Pensacola, FL. He was a devoted and loving husband. His greatest joys were his daughters, Danielle, and Emily. He was very involved in their lives and activities, whether it was chaperoning field trips, helping with Danielle at drama club where he became known as “Papa Carroll”, or spending time with Emily at Camp Beckwith.

David’s willingness to assist and connect with others was made evident through his participation with the Pensacola India Association, where he served as president for four years. David loved being outdoors. Camping, fishing, swimming, and cycling were some of his favorite activities. David will be remembered for his endless acts of service, joyful spirit, and whimsical sense of humor.

David is preceded in death by his mother, Latiné.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Chitra Haldipur Carroll; daughters, Danielle Karishma Carroll (Aubrey Lister) and Emily Priya Carroll; father, John Carroll; mother-in-law, Suman Haldipur; brothers, Bryan Carroll (Paige), Richard “Rick” Carroll (Susan), and Thomas Carroll (Donna); as well as nieces and nephews, Laura (Steven), Andrew, Johnna, Nathan, Stormie, Wendy, and Dusty.

A memorial service will be held 11:00am Monday, March 25, 2024, at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of David to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 3200 N. 12th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32503.

Not sure what to say?

I'm so very sad for David's passing. He represented me in a highly stressful case and was a calming voice in the storm. He also assisted me in another matter and was very generous with his time for which I am forever grateful. I wish I knew of this sooner, but I am holding up your family in my prayers.

Chitra and the Carroll family please accept my and Kristie's most sincerest of condolences on David's passing. I was shocked to learn his passing today in court. Kristie and I regret not knowing as we would have attended his funeral service. I have known David a long time and am thankful that I was able to speak with him at the courthouse in March. I will miss David. Rest in Peace my friend.

Please accept my most sincere condolences to the Carroll family for the loss of David. I learned today, in a court hearing by happenstance stamp of his passing. Both Kristie and I are shocked and saddened by not knowing sooner so that we could attend the service. Our thoughts are to you, Chitra And family. I am thankful that I saw David in court to speak with him in early March. I have known David since his return to Pensacola to practice law I will miss him.

Deepest Condolences.

Michael J. Griffith and Cheryl Young-Griffith

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you’ve done for me and my kids.

RIP My friend.

We are very sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We enjoyed having you all as neighbors when you lived in our neighborhood.

Our family is so sorry for the loss of David, which came way too soon. We enjoyed meeting and getting to know David, his wife, and lovely daughters at Laura and Steven’s wedding. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

David was such a good, caring person. We will miss working with him.
