COOK, David J. - Of Grand Blanc, age 63, died peacefully at home on Thursday, March 4, 2010. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Deacon Ron Kenney officiating. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation 1-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. David was born in Flint, Michigan on April 13, 1946 and was a resident of Grand Blanc for most of his life. He married Debbie Peek on October 12, 1984. He was a member of VFW Post #6579 of New Lothrop. Mr. Cook retired from Genesee County Road Commission in 2003 as Construction Manager. Surviving are wife, Debbie; sons, Darrin and wife Wendy Cook, Daniel and Donald; grandchildren, Tiffany and Trevor Cook; brothers, Doug and wife Nancy Cook, Den and wife Laura Cook; brother-in-law, Vince and wife Sharon Peek; father-in-law, Duane Peek; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. I recently learned of David's passing and offer my deepest condolences. We were in the same class in high school and I have many memories of the fun that was shared. Dave was a very fine person and will be missed by many people.

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of David. He has been a friend since highschool, Godfather to my daughter Jene, a humerous and thoughtful man whom I will miss. He raised strong and caring sons, loved his wife deeply and will be missed by all who had the privledge of knowing him. I count him in my book of treasures. Shirley (Gray) Mataya
