David A. Fisher, 60 of Mount Vernon, died Tuesday, October 31, 2006 in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids from complications of Leukemia. The family will greet friends for an Open House from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m., Saturday at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel. There will be a private burial with military rites. Dave is survived by his wife Susan; three children Stephanie, Kent, and Janet; five grandchildren: Alec, Raquel, DeLaney, Brynden, and Kathryn; his mother Margaret Brown; a brother Terry (Karen) Evans of Springville; step-siblings: Julie (Don) Durst, Kathy (John) Beiting, and David (Humiko) Brown. Preceding Dave in death were his father Arlo Fisher and his step father Gene Brown. David was born July 15, 1946 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Arlo and Margaret Port Evans Fisher Brown. He attended Martelle Schools and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1964. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. David and Susan Mounts were married in 1967. He worked for Harnischfeger "P&H" in Cedar Rapids, and farmed in rural Mount Vernon. Dave was currently a sales representative for Garst Seeds. Dave "Fish" will always be remembered for the love and compassion he had for his family and friends. Dave enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, camping, dropping by for good conversation with friends, wintering in Texas, oil painting, dancing, and the never ending glass of B.V. Memorials in David's honor may be given to the charity of your choice, the American Diabetes Association-Iowa Chapter, or The Mount Vernon Community Schools Foundation.
