Not sure what to say?

OH thanks for the memories David Pick L!! Amos explained the rule of life early on with you and you followed it: one must exert himself and perform work in order to have food and shelter. He sent a government auctioned freezer to our VA and told me to go get it: it is at work in the dining room. He always had two jobs at least. His first year at VFMA was with Field Music on a full BAND Scholarship: ohh but yes!! He mastered percussion and led the Band behind the Drum Major many a parade on...

Dave, you could always put a smile on my face with your antics and you were a true leader in the band at Valley Forge. Was so glad to see you again when we honored Larry Groff at his funeral. Your time in this earth ended much too soon but your legacy of the fine man you were will go on for generations. God bless you and your family and rest in peace. Band Sir! Jim Meckley `67

I was Dave´s company commander in the 11ACR in Vietnam. I hope his wife will get this msg; I feel badly that we lost contact over the years, but that seemed very typical in those tumultuous years. Dave was an extremely effective, competent and professional soldier. We had many challenging days together--but I always relied on his judgment and good sense. He never let me or our unit down. I hope that fact that he was held in such high regard will be a comfort to his family. He made the...

My dear Judy, and the rest of your family; please accept my personal commiserations and the condolences of the Troopers of the 11th Armored Cavalry's veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia. Your husband was a dedicated and courageous warrior, one of us, one of our own. He served honorably with the Legendary Blackhorse Regiment, and is not to be forgotten. Dave and I served at the same time in the 2nd Squadron in 1971 and 1972, and I recall with a smile many a helicopter ride together back to Phu...

To all family and friends- thank you for the kind words and memories. My dad was larger than life which leaves an immeasurable void for all of us.. I personally can´t look anywhere around my family, career, or house without seeing my father´s memories, input, or legacy. He loved his grand daughters, family, and friends beyond words. I will forever cherish their moments and memories of him. Miss you pop´s...thanks for grabbing our boys and girls at the rainbow bridge. Sleep well. I´ve...

Judy, Davey and family- I was saddened to learn of David´s passing and send heartfelt condolences. Before we lost touch he would talk about going to visit his beautiful granddaughters and how proud he was of you Davey. He joins his beloved treasure Jodie. Rest in peace David. Susan Minnich

I remember David fondly; he would on occasion come to our home in King of Prussia during VFMA leave. My parents enjoyed guest friends of mine visiting and we lived close to the Academy. David was a favorite visitor. Nicknames were popular at VFMA and with David it was simply placing the accent on the second syllable of Pickel. It made him sound like a Frenchman. Anyway, my memories of David make me smile. His passing saddens me deeply. Craig Randall `67 Band
