Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory - Shelby Obituary

David Rose, 84, of Shelby, NC, passed away February 3, 2025, at White Oak Manor.  He was the son of the late Francis Marion Rose and Myrtle Corrine Beauchamp Rose. David was a graduate of Shelby High School, and he proudly served on the planning committee for class reunions.  He later attended Indiana Wesleyan College and lovingly encouraged his granddaughter to do the same. David selflessly served in the US Army as an airplane mechanic and went on to use those skills as he became the most utilized handyman, “The Neighborhood Guy”.  After many years in the sales industry, he retired from Rose Car Company.

David was a long time member of Central United Methodist Church, Shelby Amateur Radio Club, and American Legion Post 82 where he humbly served as the Sergeant at Arms.

His favorite pastimes included making friends and connections worldwide as a Ham radio operator, building and flying model airplanes, riding his Gold Wing motorcycle, and restoring antique cars.  He was especially proud of his “ONEFINECAR”.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Iris Rose and Jim and Patsy Rose; niece, Nancy Rose; and nephew, John Rose.

David is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Claudia Irene Thompson Rose; daughters, Jennifer Rose Cook (Kyle) of Shelby, Becca Rose Klamfoth (Dan) of Charlotte, and Susan Rose Taylor (Jeff) of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Emma Rose Taylor, Avery Klamfoth, Cy Cook, Bryce Klamfoth, and Maggie Taylor; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Jane Rose of Summerfield, numerous nieces and nephews, and his dog, Cooper.

A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 13, 2025 at Central United Methodist Church with Pastor David Lee officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.

David leaves a legacy of love, respect, and an unwavering willingness to give of himself.  He was kind, gentle, and never met a stranger.  He will be missed by all that had the opportunity to know him.  Until we meet again, Daddy, 143!

David was an influential part of my childhood. Visiting the Roses on an almost daily basis, David was always so kind had many wise words to pass along to the kids in the ‘hood. My thoughts are with his family.

So sorry to hear of his passing. Brenda and I will always treasure the times spent with David from him just being the best neighbor ever, to the super bowl parties, to him being the "neighborhood guy". Our thoughts annd prayers are with the family as we know he will be so very missed. Regretfully we will be out of town for the memorial service but please know we mourn the loss with you.

David and I attended Indiana Wesleyan University together and became life long friends. He was a wonderful person and I shall miss him a great deal. My condolences to his family.
