Dennis A. Carroll, age 83, of Mt. Prospect passed away May 21, 2021. Loving husband of Marion, nee Vlazny, for 55 years; dear father of Michael (Carol), Matthew (Kelly) , and Stephen (Jennifer); proud grandfather of Meghan, Ryan, Braden, Chase, and Claire; fond brother of the late John Joe, Mary Lou, and Thomas; dear brother-in-law of Archbishop John Vlazny.
Dennis was born and raised on the south side of Chicago by his parents who were Irish immigrants. He was a graduate of both St. Rita High School and Western Michigan University. A dedicated and loyal employee of Coca-Cola for over forty years, he finished his career in the accounting department at Maryville Academy. As a life-long member of St. Emily’s parish, he served as Usher and Eucharistic Minister. He was also an active supporter of St. Emily’s School, presiding as former President of the School Board, Chairman of the McLoraine Scholarship Fund, member of the Financial Council and the first Chairman of the St. Emily Pastoral Council. He also served as former president of the Mt. Prospect Baseball Association. Well loved by family and many friends, Dennis was known for his sociable personality and his unfailing readiness to offer advice and to help anyone in need.
Visitation Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 4-8 pm at Matz Funeral Home, 410 E. Rand Rd., Mt. Prospect. Lying in state Friday at St. Emily Church, 1400 E. Central Road, Mt. Prospect from 10 am until time of Funeral Mass 11 am. Entombment All Saints Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorials to St. Emily Parish or St. Mary Of The Lake Seminary, Mundelein, IL appreciated.

As of February 2, 2021, the State of Illinois “Tier 4 Mitigations” regarding funeral attendance limits for the City of Chicago and Suburban Cook County allow no more than 250 guests at a time in the funeral home. All guests are required to wear face masks and practice social distancing. It is recommended that if you are not feeling well, you should not attend.
