Dennis R. Rust

From 1967 till '73 Dennis and I worked together at what was then the Texas Highway Dept. We hunted, and fished together those years. He liked fast cars and I motorcycles. He had a nice '68 Dodge Charger with a 440 cu. in. wedge head engine. That thing would cover ground in a hurry. I guess we were both lucky to live to be 30 but here it is now, I'm nearly 78 and he's been gone nearly 7 years. We had some good times my old friend. What a wonderful friend he was..we went to the same schools and lived in the same neighborhood.God rest his sweet soul. He is at peace now.

There are so many wonderful and funny memories that I have of my cousin Dennis. One particular memory that comes to mind is Dennis taking me to my very first concert - the Beach Boys - back in the 60's! I can't remember exactly who all went and why they included me, I just remember Dennis' friend Larry Sowell going (who I had a crush). My mom really didn't think it was a good idea since I was so much younger, but dear old cousin Dennis talked her into letting me go....

Dennis was my Texas Highway Dept. co-worker, and hunting and fishing buddy back in the 1970's. He was a good friend and one of the best men with a 16 gauge Browning automatic shotgun I have ever seen down in the brush country of south Texas.
