Funeral services for Dixie W. Grimes, 80, of Burke will be held Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ronnie Frankens officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Grimes was born December 5, 1932 in Angelina County, Texas to the late William T. and Lola Bell (Capps) McClendon, and died Monday, January 7, 2013 at her residence. She was a professional salesperson for World Book Encyclopedia for 31 years. Mrs. Grimes was very family oriented, and a great cook. She was a people person, and never met a stranger. Mrs. Grimes loved her church, the Homer United Pentecostal Church, where she had been a member for many years. Survivors include her husband, Leonard Grimes; son, Scott Grimes of Waskom; grandchildren, Jennifer Grimes of Waskom, Chris Grimes and wife Sabrina of Marshall, Shane Price and wife Datha, Kaycie Price, Kendall Brown and husband Nick, all of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Grant Grimes, Hailey Price, Makayla Price, Madison Price, Jordan Davis, Tianna Davis, Brookelyn Davis and Taylor Brown; sister, Lou Jackson of Diboll; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Kay Grimes Price; and brothers, Roy McClendon and Theria McClendon. Pallbearers will be Nick Brown, Shane Price, Chris Grimes, Brian Frankens, Gentry Wilkerson and Junior Frankens. The family extends special thanks to Affinity Hospice nurse Margie Gandy and Mrs. Grimes' special niece Donna Lou Jackson, for their excellent care of her. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
