Delores Saunders was my neighbor who lived in back of me. She lived on Thomaston Street and we lived on Plainfield Street. Her boys played with my son Trevor, and participated in scouts together. She was the den mother for Scout Troupe 265 Hopewell Baptist Church's scout troupe for many years. She was a quiet spoken lovely lady. I admired for for sticking with the scout ministry for so long. Delores was always a quiet unassuming voice in the choir. She possessed one of the most beautiful soprano voices as was evidenced in her rendition of Oh Holy Night with the Concert Choir. While quiet, she was definitely not a person you wanted to rile up because you would definitely get a fight from her lol. I recall as her illness worsened a bit, I was able to convince her to sit in the car with myself and Phyllis Franklin as she awaited the arrival of her beloved husband to pick her up...

Very sorry to hear of Dolores' passing. We worked together at the Labor Dept. and became good friends. She was a lovely person inside and out. I will cherish the good times we had together. May she rest in peace.
