Donald Eugene Armstrong, age 63, passed away on March 27, 2026, at Oak Forest Health and Rehab in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born on May 20, 1962, in Crestline, Ohio, and he lived a life marked by hard work, humor, and a deep love for the people who knew him best. Donald was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose family meant everything to him. He is survived by his daughters, Ashley Armstrong and her husband Clint of West Virginia, and Amanda Hawley and her husband Gerald of Virginia. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Lucas and her husband Cam, Caleb Comer, Preston Comer, and Oakleigh Dudley. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Kinsley Glover and another great-granddaughter who is expected in May. Donald also shared a special bond with Joyce Lucas, the mother of his children and a dear friend who remained an important part of his life. He is also survived by his brother, Mike Armstrong of Arizona, and his sisters, Candi Stamper of Ohio, Nannette Jackson of Rich Creek, and Carla Vaughn and her husband Rick of West Virginia. He held a special place in his heart for his cousins, Leisa McKinney Wiseman and her husband John of Florida, Bobby McKinney of Florida, and Dwayne McKinney of Kentucky. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley McKinney and Adrian Armstrong, as well as his bonus parents, James “JB” and Dorothy Roach. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Rex Butler, Larry McKinney, Terry Ray Armstrong, Timmy Patton, and his twin sister, Debbie Armstrong. Donald spent more than 25 years working as a truck driver, a career that reflected his strong work ethic, independence, and dedication. He took pride in doing a job well and was known for his steady presence and reliable nature. The miles he traveled and the roads he covered were a meaningful part of his life. Outside of work, Donald enjoyed hunting, carpentry, and watching NASCAR. He was an avid fan of the sport and appreciated the excitement, speed, and tradition it brought. He also had a playful side and was known as a prankster, always ready with a joke or a lighthearted moment that could bring laughter to those around him. His sense of humor and easygoing spirit left lasting memories with many who loved him. The family wish to extend a special note of gratitude to Oak Forest Health and Rehab and to Liberty Hospice in Winston-Salem for the care and love extended to Mr. Armstrong and family.
