Not sure what to say?

I am very sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. I visited briefly with him only a few days before, when I was at his nursery. When ever I was at 'Rancho' I tried to say 'Hi' and have a few words with him. He was always kind and generous. Each time I learned something. I have known Jerry for probably about 40 years, and in one of our conversations, he said he knew me "when I was a little brat". He knew me when I was a toddler running around the nursery on Rosecrans. So 'he knew me',...

I have known Jerry for a long time, probably near 40 years. He had developed an amazing nursery in our back yard, Rancho Santa Fe. Before that he had a smaller nursery in north P.B. - west Soledad area. Always had interesting and unusual plants. When ever I was to the nursery I would try to have a few words with Jerry, always learned something, very kind and interesting. I also know he 'knew me' before I 'knew him'. He worked for my father, way back when "I was a little brat" on...

My husband and I met Jerry about 25 years ago. We always enjoyed going to the Nursery, and chewing the fat with him. I wandered through the Nursery last week, and it was very surreal. I felt his presence. RIP Jerry and may God bless your family.

Every time we met he would smile and laugh as he showed me throughout the nursery. I will miss the stories. I send much love to his family.

Dear Carolyn, Loving family members, and adoring friends. I was saddened to here of "Jerry's" passing. I met Jerry thirty-eight years ago on the tennis courts of Rancho Bernardo. Yes ,we shared the common love and hate of the game of tennis!!! Playing in double tournements, and on his beautiful family tennis court in Ramona, was such a pleasure, and boy we did have fun. Fond memories and laughs are countless!!! It is my distinct pleasure to have had the opportunity to have known...

We always counted on Jerry's fantastic plant materials for so many of our wonderful projects-many of them in Las Vegas, where we have worked with Jerry's company on so many special destinations. His generosity and genius set him apart! Our prayers and thoughts are with his family.

Jerry gave me my first job after graduating in horticulture from Cal Poly in 1984.He took me out to lunch to interview me and said "you can start in June when you are finished at school". About 3 months later I showed up for work and he said "who are you?" I said "you hired me last spring, remember?" he said "oh that's right, go work on the canning pile". I worked for him for 3 years and learned more than I ever did at Cal Poly. Thanks for the great...

I will always be grateful for his contributions to horticultural in San Diego and the time I spent working in Pacific Beach for RSN

To the Hunter family,
Jerry was a friend, mentor, and an inspiration to all of us in the nursery business. The Halamuda family sends our condolences.
