Mr. Mull, as we University of Virginia undergrads all called him, was quite simply the most unforgettable teacher I ever had. He was, at once, funny, intellectual, and a damn good professor of English literature. I met him in 1964 as a freshman and was always impressed with his erudite scholarship and his ability to mesmorize with his lectures. May God bless Mr. Mull.

Wonderful professor. I vexed him because, as he once told me, I didn't work to my potential. I hope he would be proud to know that, in part thanks to the profound influence he had on me, I did at last. Thank Dr. Mull.

I only wish that I had gotten once last chance to tell Mr. Mull, my favorite professor of all time, just how much he meant to me. As a student at University of Virginia in 1964, his academic "message" literally changed my life. May God bless his soul. Frank B.

He was my all time favorite prof. I took ever English course, I could with him, including a seminar in Henry James, his favorite author. He took me to see Gunther Grass at Penn, I took him to see Phil Ochs at Grendal's Lair.

My husband, friend and I met Don at a local restaurant and we often sat next to each other. We loved his wit, his knowledge of literature and his love of films. We always had great conversations with Don. We miss him. Our sincere condolences to his family, friends and his beloved students. He was a special gift to us.
