Not sure what to say?

My deepest sympathies to the Rose family and extended families. I had a great friend in Don and it was always the best time to sit on the Vink porch and hear his stories that mesmerized me. I'll always cherish the memories that I have with Don. A truly great man.

Mr. Rose, "Coach" was my coach from 8th grade through high school in Simms, MT. I have many good memories, but especially of his counseling and comforting after we lost our last high school tournament game.

We will always remember how funny, friendly, genuine, and kind Don was. Certainly a one of a kind gentleman. I always looked forward to seeing if I could get some new story or joke out of him when we were over at the Vink place, and I was never disappointed! He influenced so many young people in such a positive way what his legacy is sure to continue on forever. Rest In Peace ol Don, we all love you.

At the lower, end literally, of this coach's students I was so short and uncoordinated he told me I'd pass the PE class if I could make one basket. This was probably 8th or 9th grade in Simms, late to mid 50's. Regardless I got the sense that his children did," Don't worry, it will be OK." The worst part was the grim maroon gym suits we had to wear. Mine of course was way too big. He was a gentleman and a good friend the kind we like to see raise a family and live a long and...

My condolences to Don's family. Don coached at Simms during my freshman and sophomore years. His teams beat mine every game in football, and all but one game in basketball (including the division challenge game that kept us from going to state). Later I got to know him personally when he started coaching at Cascade. I was amazing by his coaching and teaching skills. He was a fine man. Godspeed Don.

Don Rose was a coach at Simms HS when I was a student-athlete at Fairfield HS 1957-61. He was a great coach and highly respected. Some coaches leave a lasting impression like my high school coach Jack Scott. God Bless Coach Rose....may he rest in peace.
