Donald Salvy Terrace, son of the late Peter and Joan (nee Pujol) Terrace, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 11 in Alexandria, VA. Don was born in Brooklyn NY. His family later moved to New Jersey where he graduated from Ramsey High School. As a young father, he started Terrace Realty which, before selling the company in 1984, he successfully grew into one of the largest family-owned Real Estate companies in New Jersey and Rockland County New York. Upon moving to Alexandria, VA, he started selling Subaru cars at Beyer Subaru of Alexandria and was known to many people in the area as "Subaru Don".

Don never stopped paying it forward with his dedication to Rotary and the many people the organization assisted. Through Rotary in NJ, he helped to start "RYLA" (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) for the community youth. Don spent many years volunteering as a Sunday School teacher impacting the lives of many youth and young adults, as well as a bible study leader for people of all ages. For many years he taught faith-based studies through Prison Ministries to incarcerated men in northern VA. He always believed that positive thinking created positive results. His favorite quote was, "If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right". His mission of impacting lives didn't stop with church. He took that passion into the world of children and adults with disabilities, showing them that all they needed was a desire to ski to make it happen.

His amazing life will forever be cherished in the lives of his beloved and devoted soul-mate for the past 25 years, Laura Derby of Alexandria, VA; and his 4 daughters: Donna Terrace Caloia and her husband Domenic, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Deborah Terrace of Mahwah, NJ, Heather Terrace Borgersen and her husband Andrew, of Park Ridge, NJ, Meredith Terrace Arabas of River Edge, NJ; his adored brother Matthew Terrace and his wife Dolores Picone, of River Edge, NJ; his grandchildren Amber Borgersen, Timothy Arabas, Ryan Borgersen, Christian Arabas and Hailey Borgersen; as well as Laura's children Jeff Derby of Crawford, CO and Kendra-Sue Derby of Atlanta, GA.; Laura's grandchildren Kenley, Joli, Jamie, and CJ Derby; great grandson Renn Derby; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

There will be two memorial services. The first will be held in Alexandria, VA at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, located at 1301 Collingwood Rd, Alexandria, VA 22308, on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 2:00 pm. The second service will be held at First Congregational Church, located at 131 Pascack Road, Park Ridge, NJ 07656, on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11:00 am. Inurnment will be at George Washington Memorial Park cemetery in Paramus, NJ.

Not sure what to say?

Don was always at home in the kitchen. He showed more people how to make Paella then the Food Network.

Coney Island Circa 1955, Eric Johnson and Don Terrace

Our time together was to our time at Ramsey High and later to several years in the mid-80's when we temporarily relocated to Montvale N.J. I have wonderful and lasting memories of a great and fun friend; fair winds and following seas until we meet again good friend. Condolences to his family for their loss of Don. The picture enclosed is circa 1955 and a fun day at Coney Island.

Rest In Peace Dad and give grandma and grandpa a hug for me.
