Don was one of my heroes. He was a brilliant, funny and warm guy. My wife and I spent many evenings with Don and his wife enjoying each other's company and jazz music on shore and on Boston Harbor jazz cruises. Rest in your well earned peace, brother.

Don, old friend. My apologies to Laurie and Hugh for all of our missed communications during these past couple of years. You are one of my American heroes. Rest in peace after your long struggles.

He is and will always be Grandpa Don to me and he was the greatest person that I've ever encountered in my life. He is a true American Hero.
