Not sure what to say?

A few years ago while traveling home from FL we struck up a conversation with a man who was enjoying his lunch at a rest stop in TN. We were drawn to one another through our dogs who shared a romp in the dog run. Shortly after sharing personal information we realized that Don and Don (Criner) were 1966 grads of OHHS . Don had also taught all three of the DeLuca girls (our adopted nieces) and to top it off we were all dog lovers. It was so nice spending those random moments with Don. We think...

Mr. Verduin was such an enthusiastic and supportive teacher during my time at City. I am so sorry to learn of his passing and I hope that knowing of his profound positive impact on so many is a warm solace during this painful time. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mr. Verduin was such a wonderful man! I loved having him as a teacher at City. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

Mr. Verduin was a great guy and always treated me with compassion and understanding as a student when I was going through hard times in high school. May he Rest In Peace.

Mr. Verduin was a science teacher of mine at City High/Middle. He always had a great energy and an infectious smile! I really enjoyed him.

I feel that Don was a wonderful educator. I taught with him for several years and he really and truly cared for his students.
He had a wonderful sense of humor. Sometimes just for the fun of it the kids would poke fun at their teachers at a pep rally or dance. One of the kids I had this crazy wig - (Albert Einstein like) and went as Mr.Verduin. We all laughed, but more importantly, Don laugh the hardest.
Don was a GENTLE man. A GOOD man.

Mr. Verduin was one of my teachers. He was a great teacher, and that's why I still remember his warm and sunny smile.

I had Don Verduin for biology at City High in the early 80s and I've never forgotten his love of nature, his passion to teach, but above all his joyful spirit and the God given ability to make people laugh and smile. He will always be in my heart. I pray that your family will be comforted to know he touched the lives of so many in such a positive and lasting way. May God bless you.

I'm also a City High School student here to remember a teacher who had a profound impact on my life. I remember when I told him I was a Catholic and I wanted to go to morning mass but it would make me late for his class first hour. He said if it mattered that much to me, he would not mark me late because of Mass. I was 5-10 min late every day and quietly came into class and he gave no problems. Now I am working on my doctorate in theology. Tomorrow I will go to Mass and pray for him and all...
