GREENVILLE - Doris C. Reilly of Garden Avenue died Monday, April 26, 2010 in St. Joseph's Medical Center, North Providence at the age of 95. She was the wife of the late Bernard Reilly who passed away in 1985.
Born June 9, 1914 in Warwick, she was a daughter of the late George E. and Jessie M. (Matteson) Ferland.
Doris grew up in Providence and was a 1932 graduate of Hope High School. She has been a resident of Greenville since 1954.
Doris worked as a bookkeeper for the veterinarian, A.C. Parrillo and the Scituate Animal Hospital for many years. She had previously worked at R.J. Colardo Realty in Johnston and various other offices including Chassee Nursery in Smithfield, Dunn and Bradstreet and The Outlet Company both in Providence.
Doris was a beautiful seamstress and loved sewing for family and friends. She also enjoyed crocheting and was active in PTA when her children were in school.
She was a longtime communicant of St. Philip Church in Greenville where she was a member of the St Philip Sodality, the Rosary and Altar Society and St. Philip's Women's Club.
She is survived by two daughters, M. Jeanine Collard of Greenville and Kathleen Iadevaia of Burriville; a son, Bernard F. Reilly III of Greenville; a sister, Phyllis Hanna of Stoughton; and five grandchildren, Michael A. Iadevaia, Lisa A. Devlin, Christian A. Collard, Jeremiah J. Reilly and Eric M. Reilly.
A funeral will be held on Friday, April 30 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville followed by burial in Elm Grove Cemetery, North Kingstown. Visitation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
