Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home - Man Obituary

Dorothy Ann Barrett Of Bruno, WV Dorothy Ann Barrett, 68, of Bruno, joined her husband in their Heavenly home on Monday, May 22, 2017, leaving from CAMC-Memorial Division at Charleston. She was born on February 15, 1949, at Bruno, a daughter of the late Diamond Lanford, Sr. and Edith Ann Grimmett Altizer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Kelly Barrett, Sr. and one brother, Diamond L. Altizer, Jr. Dottie was a homemaker and a Christian. Devoted to her family, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. The greatest joy of her life was being a mother and grandmother. Her giving spirit, generosity, and kindness toward others will long be remembered by all who were blessed to know her. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Douglas Kelly Barrrett, Jr. of Bruno, Matthew Lester and Michelle Lester (Verlin) Harper, both of Stony Point, NC, Duane (Stephanie) Lester of Alum Creek, Edward Barrett of Norfolk, VA, Kelley Barrett (Bernard) Blankenship of Neibert, and Tammy Barrett (Jimmy) Chapman of Davin; grandchildren, Jerrod and Benjamin Lester, Kyle and Mackenzie Harper, Charlize and Annakin Lester, Justin, Kaitlan, and Seth Chapman, Kory Gibson, and Ariana Barrett; two great-grandchildren, Jacen and Sawyer Chapman; her siblings, Peggy (Derrick) Mynes of Milton, Mack (Alice) Altizer, Doralene (Charles) Bailey, and Joseph (Michelle) Altizer, all of Bruno; and her sister-in-law, Linda Altizer of Gilbert along with a host of other relatives and friends. In honoring Dottie's wishes, a private family graveside service was held on Thursday, May 25, 2017, with Rev. Roger Frye officiating. She was laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Pallbearers will be family members. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.

Dottie was one of my favorite people she was my uncle Ralph grimmett's niece and Nita and Ralph would let me go to their house and Dottie was the one person that looked out after me. Sorry for the family's loss..she will be missed gone but never forgotten

Dottie and I were high school friends, although it has been many years since we have been in touch with each other, I still have so many happy memories of our friendship, lots of laughter and good times...so sorry for your loss..
