Dorothy "Lorene" Kummer

Lorene Kummer, 95, of Longmont, Colorado, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2023. She was born Dorothy Lorene Marr on September 9, 1928, in Kentucky to the late Hobart and Bessie Marr. Lorene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her most valued asset, and she found comfort and connection with her deeply rooted Catholic faith. She worshipped at St John's Catholic Church in Longmont. During the years she was able, Lorene traveled extensively and developed a lasting love for "her" Africa. She also held a deep regard for all the world's animals. She was an avid reader and always enjoyed a good mystery story. Lorene also had a talent for crafting beautiful ceramic dolls and gifted her children and grandchildren with beautifully crafted Christmas ornaments each year. Lorene is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Brian) McKay, Linda (Steve) Harless, Cindy Bravernick, Sheila (Greg) Keefer, Elaine (Larry) Nosbish, and son Mark (Pam) Kummer. She is also survived by six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, Edward (Ted) Kummer, infant son Joseph Kummer, and her siblings Mary Edna Befus, Mamie Leona Potts, and John Marr. A rosary will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023, at 6:00 PM at Howe Mortuary in Longmont. A funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 10:30 AM at St John's Catholic Church. Following the Mass, a light lunch will be served in the church hall. Internment will be held at Foothills Garden of Memories at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or the National Kidney Foundation.
