Dorothy Welch Smith, 84, who worked for 10 years at Winn’s Variety Store before her retirement in 1983, passed from this life in Texas City, Texas, on Friday evening, March 31, 2000. Friends called on Sunday, April 2, 2000, 5-8 p.m., at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, Texas. Funeral services took place on Monday, April 3, officiated by Mr. Rex Teeter. Interment was at Galveston Memorial Park, Hitchcock. Memorials are appreciated to First Christian Church, P.O. Box 428, La Marque, TX 77568.
