How heartbreaking to hear of Doug´s passing. I met Doug through the UM Advocates and enjoyed many laughs with him during my time in Missoula. I was fortunate to share an apartment with his sister Janet and did some tax returns for Doug Sr´s Hardin law firm. Doug was an extraordinary man from an exceptional family. My deepest condolences to those he´s left behind. . . . .until you meet again

Lori, Megan, and Matt,
I am so very sorry. I have always considered Doug a true friend and many times relied on his kindness and help to get through a rough patch. I loved his wry sense of humor. We never did fulfill our plan to practice law together, which is probably a good thing since we would have spent all day chatting instead of working. I know there is nothing to ease the pain of his loss. I hope your memories and the sympathy from friends will bring a little peace as you grieve....

My heart sank when I heard this. We spent so much time together growing up and many Christmas, Easter, July celebrations and everything in between. Rest easy Dougie, you were truly one of the best. Keep that Clue board ready until we meet again.

Lori, Matt and Megan, Thank you for giving us such a wonderful story of Doug´s life in his obituary. Robyn and are both saddened by this news. While talking about Doug, we discovered that we had both been thinking about him a week or so ago. Perhaps his spirit was just waiving as it departed. When Doug first went into practice, he and Robyn shared some office space. Robyn came home talking about the young guy from Hardin that I just had to meet. He was all she had said and more. He was so...

When "Dougie" was in elementary school he broke his leg skiing. While he was in traction at the Hardin hospital where my mother worked as a nurse, we exchanged pictures every other day. Doug would draw a scary monster then I would respond with another, more scary monster. I don't remember how long Doug was out of school but we had a phenomenal monster collection by the time he was walking again! It was Doug who invited me to Missoula to be his roommate in 1980. Turns out he lived in the...
