Not sure what to say?

I just learned of Doug's death and am so shocked. Doug was a very sincere, quality individual. He had the right perspective on life and family. My deepest sympathies to his family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you as you remember Doug at today's Memorial Service. I have nothing but fond memories of Doug. He will be missed. Thankfully we all have wonderful recollections and were blessed to know him.

Ouch. I just found out about this. I doubt that words will help much, but for what they're worth, I knew Doug to be one of the truly nice guys in business, which made him very special. "Don't be sad because it's over. Be glad because it happened."
From an HBS sectionmate, who sat right behind Doug for all of First Year

To Doug's family, I am so very sorry for your loss. When we were in business school, Doug always had a smile on his face and was a welcome sight each day in class. He contributed greatly to what was special about our section. His energy and positive spirit combined with his intellect and lovely demeanor made him a real standout in our class. He will be missed.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Doug's passing. He was a terrific person, who I got to know through Harvard Business School Christian Fellowship. The good news is that he's now in Heaven, enjoying eternal life.

Doug was a delight. I had become acquainted with him at Round Hill Community Church and looked forward to seeing him there. We had long interesting conversations on many subjects----always interesting. I miss him.

I just saw the request for prayer in Park Street Church's bulletin. I am shocked and sad to learn of this tragic loss. We grew up together at Weymouth Baptist and Weymouth High School, where he played on the basketball team. Many memories. Gail, please accept my sincere sympathy.
