Proctor Funeral Home - Camden Obituary

Dr. Jerry Kendall, 85, of Camden, AR, passed away peacefully in his home August 31, 2019. He was born August 14, 1934 in McNeil, AR, an only child of John and Flora Kendall.   He graduated from Magnolia High School in 1952 and was the first in his family to attend college. He later attended Louisiana Tech in Ruston, LA for graduate school and finally made his way to attend medical school at UAMS in Little Rock, AR, graduating in 1969. He married his wife, Nancy Williams, in 1961 and was married just shy of 58 years. Together they had three children over the next eleven years.

Dr. Kendall arrived in Camden, AR to start his medical career in 1971 and treated many patients in and around the Camden area for almost 30 years. He was a lifelong Razorback fan, regardless the sport they were competing in, and could often be heard either calling the Hogs or complaining of a bad call made by the referees. In retirement, he spent much of his time at his “old home place” operating his bulldozer, backhoe or tractor. Oh how he loved his big boy toys. In later years he found much of his joy from his five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, along with his beloved pets.

Dr. Kendall is survived by his wife Nancy Kendall of Camden; three children, John Kendall (Michelle) of Greenbrier, AR, Stan Kendall (Chenoa) of Greenwood, LA and Kelly Kendall of Conway, AR; his five grandchildren, Kirsten Kendall of Hot Springs, AR, Mercedes Beaver of Camden, AR, Cassidy Kendall of Hot Springs, AR, Jeremy Kendall of Russellville, AR and Thomas Kendall of Greenbrier, AR; two great-grandchildren, Hazel Light and Kendall Beaver.

He would be the first to admit he led a full, blessed and happy life.   He was a true to life success story in so many ways and was ready to meet his maker and enjoy eternity reunited with loved ones who went before him. He will be greatly missed. GO HOGS!

Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6:00-8:00 Monday.   Services will be 10:00 Tuesday at First United Methodist Church followed by interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Camden, 121 Harrison, Camden, AR, 71701.

Not sure what to say?

Dear Mrs. Kendall and family, I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Kendall. He was my doctor for years and was always so patient and kind. Please know that we share your sorrow and will miss him. With love, Taryn Henderson Parker

Praying for you all. He was an awesome doctor. He will be missed.

Nancy, May God Richly Bless you and your Sweet Family.

What a legacy he has left. I never saw him without a smile. Not only was he a committed doctor, but he & Nancy were a great example of a loving & devoted marriage. My prayers are with each of you in the weeks ahead.

Dr. Kendall was just one of those good old fashioned Drs that took time with his patients, spoke on a level that people could identify with & treated patients like friends. He became my Dr when he started at Ouachita Clinc & for many years afterwards. He will leave a great void with his passing but I know MANY patients will forever be grateful that he'd been their Dr.

Sorry to just learn of Jerry's passing a few days ago. In med school I did not know he was 9 years older than I was. Always friendly and spoke to him often at medical events and he kept me abreast of happenings in Camden and the status of Cal Sanders. A great person around his patients for sure. Condolences to the family.
