Not sure what to say?

I was one of Mr. Taylor's students at Homecroft Elementary. I will never forget one project I made in his class! We were making marionettes, (stuffed cloth string puppets), and I decided to make a Martian! My wonderful teacher validated my idea and I had a great time making my unusual character. I remember so clearly the positive energy he always brought into our class. He made learning and art-making a pleasure!

I was a student at Homecroft and was in the third grade when that school opened. I was also a boy scout in Mr. Taylor's troop. His kindness to me was without limit. Once the troop was going through Mammoth Cave and I got too tired to walk any further. He carried me the rest of the way. We camped every month regardless of the weather. He was such a nice, nice man.

Mr.Taylor taught 5 of my brothers and sisters. He was a fantastic art teacher and I had the wonderful time of growing up in the mid- late 1960's.
Homecroft had the best staff and principal with students eager to learn.
One of the best memories was a mural he had the artistic students make and it was hung in Homecroft halls for decades!
May you find comfort in knowing what a wonderful man he was.

Dwight was a wonderful educator and innate environmentalist. I enjoyed working with him as a teacher and Little Hoosiers sponsor at Homecroft Elementary. Not only did he have an impact on my teaching and interest in the environment, but also impacted the life of both of my sons who were a part of the Little Hoosiers fieldtrips. I remember one son asking, "Does Mr. Taylor know everything in the world about plants?" The other son asked, "How does Mr. Taylor know where to find fossils on our...

I met Dwight when I began teaching at Homecroft Elementary in 1982. I was privileged to work with him for several years before his retirement. Dwight was a gifted teacher and a good man. Sorry to learn of his passing.

Dwight and I enjoyed the Little Hoosiers trips on the weekends with Homecroft students. He was able to give great historical insight to the children but also the knowledge and love of the outdoors. He was always up for a hike, telling us the names of the trees and plants. What a great educator! He was a mentor to me as I began my 33 years of teaching at Homecroft Elementary.

Mr Taylor taught art to me at Southport/Homecroft. My grown sons also had him for art. Good teacher good guy.

Dwight and I taught together for a few years at Homecroft Elementary School. He was a pleasant man with an easy going way about him and he influenced thousands of children over the years in a very positive way.
