I worked with Ed at Union College during the early days of computing; I was both his EE student and he was my CS student. A few years ago he joked that it was only the two of us left from the faculty those years. I feel alone!

I had many wonderful conversations with Ed over the years and always came away smiling. I also too a Pascal course with him and enjoyed his teaching skills. He will be missed. So sorry to hear of his passing.
