Not sure what to say?

Dear Mary Ann,

At an appointment at MAI today, I learned of your dad's passing. Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. Thank you for the referral you gave me 30 years ago when I was looking a for a primary care physician. Over the years, your dad took very good care of me, although the head replacement recommendation was not something I ever acted on. Dr. Newman went to bat for me on more than one occasion when I needed to see a specialist, never taking no for an...

Ed Newman was my friend and my doctor for years. In all the good ways a man can love another man, I loved the guy. He was different, and he could be impossible. But he cared. He cared for poor Helen Alford from Jackson, Mississippi at my request - and was able to get her social security in her 60's. He cared for my wife from before we were married. Eddie was a fine physician, but that does not do it. Eddie was a perceptive, thoughtful, demanding genius. We met in 1955. Eddie was living in...

DR. NEWMAN SAVED MY LIFE IN 1969 AND WE
ALWAYS SHARED A SPECIAL BOND. HE WAS ALSO MY LATE HUSBAND'S DOCTOR. THEY LOVED TO INSULT EACH OTHER!EDDIE TOLD ME
WHEN HE WAS GONE THERE WOULD BE NO GOOD DOCTORS. I BELIEVE IT.

Lori, Steve and Mary Ann and Nancy: Heratbroken that I retuned from NASA today to learn of Eddie's passing. Our friendship goes back to my return from the Army in 52, when he told me that being in the Army 'screwed' up a few things, but he would fix them. And fix it he did. All through the years Eddie was a good friend and kept me healthly. He encouraged me to move ahead and often at the Saturday lunches with Kup took a special interest in suggesting and helping not only with medical...

To my friend and my former client, you were the epitomy of what a Doctor needed to be. You changed my life and my family's life forever. I will always be eternally grateful for everything you helped me with, and taught me over the years. You truely were an icon. You will be greatly missed. My Prayers go out to Lori and family. God Bless !!!!!

Dr. Newman and Family,

I was very sorry to hear about your father. I will say a prayer for you to help you get through this very sad time.

Please accept my condolences on the passing of Edward Newman. I had the good fortune of serving on a number of committees with him, particulary at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He always provided a fine answer to a complex problem, and having him on the committee gave me great confidence that the hospital was spending its money wisely and that Eddie would keep us going in the right direction. He certainly did.
