Not sure what to say?

I had three classes from him at CAL in 1969-70...he was probably the best lecturer I ever had and no one ever missed his class. He became a good friend and provided sage advice on many subjects...today is the anniversary of the end of World War I and all its diplomatic history intrigues a fitting day to say RIP Ed-Mike Milwee

Ed Segel was my professor in 2 classes (or was it 3 classes) of Diplomatic History at U.C. Berkeley in 1969 and 1970. He was a great teacher, a very quick wit (although with an occasional bad pun), a very good conversationalist, and all-around nice guy. I got to know him a little bit outside of the classroom -- enough to try to set him up on a blind date with my older sister, which didn't exactly work out. But knowing Ed was a happy experience, He was a good man

Ed was a wonderful man and a dear friend. He was such a kind, thoughtful warm and light hearted gentleman and friend. I love and miss you, Ed! I will see you on the other side. Cheers!

Ed and I became fast friends when I moved to Portland in 1982, and remained friends for years after I left the city in 1984. He was generous, kind, and good humored. So sad to hear of his passing!

Interesting and kindly, Ed was a pleasure and honor to know. I miss him

Eddie was my first cousin. He was a true role model for his entire family-brilliant, compassionate and brave with a terrific sense of humor. Bravo for a life well lived!

Ed Segel was my professor at Reed College. He was an outstanding teacher and a fine man as well as a brilliant historian. I celebrate his life and will miss him.
