Captain Widner was one of my favorite captains to fly with during my stay in MSP with Western Air Lines. I always looked forward to the trips with him and knew that the flights were going to be fun, safe and professional.

I was a copilot for Ed at Western Airlines.I was based in MSP at the time and later flew some with Ed out of SLC after we opened the base there.I really enjoyed flying with him.He and I really liked a good cup of coffee and Ed told me he brought his own pot on the layovers.He would always share what was going on in Colorado at his place.I remember he had Cherry trees and we talked a lot many things.Great guy! Sorry you went west so young Ed!

I knew David from my Little League baseball team and at OMJH. I am grateful at times like this for the Plan of Happiness as taught by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

I have fond memories of Ed writing a computer program for our office. He made me very nervous by saying that I could not afford him, but he never did charge for writing a very complicated program. Whenever he would make a change, he would install it then tell me he was going out of town! I would ask how to get ahold of him if I needed help. His reply was to call 1-800-555-1212 - information! I have many other memories, but these are some that come to mind. I will miss Ed and my thoughts...

The man was a huge influence on my life. He was a great friend and will be missed.As always, my best thought go out to his family.
